Tooling - Head mold & LooBlade on UK Channel 5 -'The Gadget Show', Ep. 11
over 10 years ago

Quick updates on two points:
1) Tooling for the head is virtually complete. This has taken longer than planned as we're pioneering a very complex shape in terms of injection molding. We've got it licked though!

2) My fellow countryman (and kind backer) Mike Carr reminded me in the latest comment that I should mention LooBlade made its maiden appearance on prime-time TV last week! (We've been so busy focussing on manufacturing! )
We were on one of UKs premiere channels on a major show: Channel 5, The Gadget Show. They approached us to ask to feature LooBlade, which was wonderful! You'll find us at 17.33 minutes in! (Possibly not available in all countries, so I've taken screenshots)
TÜV Testing to ISO22196:2011 - Anti-microbial performance
over 10 years ago

We focussed very early on taking an holistic approach to hygiene and ergonomics in LooBlade. We were determined that it should meet the ultimate standards of anti-microbial performance, as well as being easy to keep clean and use. As far as we can establish, this is unique to our toilet cleaning device.
The International Standard for such performance is ISO22196:2011. (99.9% germ-neutralisation). This requires testing to a rigorous set of parameters by a certified and accredited testing laboratory. It applies to all the materials in LooBlade in head, handle and holder.
We have chosen arguably the foremost, and certainly one of the most widely respected, laboratory testing companies in the world, TÜV SÜD AG, of Germany. We are testing LooBlade's materials to the above standard in their laboratory in Siegen, Germany.
This is currently underway, and we hopefully expect (we've put a lot of work into getting this right -but we can't pre-empt the lab!) to acheive the desired certification very soon.

Good progress on the tooling. We expect the holder and blade-head tool images shortly.

Just a quick update to share images of the tooling design. The machining of these is fully underway.
LooBlade's head is a complex shape in molding terms. It requires a multi-section, articulated tool. With the incredible accuracy, detail and surface quality of toolmaking technology today we are able to make a form that would have been difficult at the required level of quality until relatively recent years.

We're underlining our commitment to get LooBlade to you as soon as possible, in having injection-mould tooling manufacture well underway at our manufacturing partner facility in Shanghai.
The process uses two distinct and complimentary processes of computer controlled cutting; conventional CNC routing of stainless steel blanks, and also EDM, an electro-discharge method of machining that allows precise vaporisation of metal from areas of the tool. The two machines involved are pictured.
We'll share images of the tools themselves as they are completed.
